The Amedi rural areas are considered the premier tourism destination in the Duhok governorate. Nevertheless, the factors that determine its competitiveness remain undisclosed. The objective of this paper is to identify the primary strategic elements that contribute to the competitiveness of tourism destinations in the Amedi region. The study is based on and guided by the Ritchie and Crouch destination competitiveness model. The study sought to examine the influence of destination attractors on destination competitiveness and to determine the effect of destination management on destination competitiveness. The study employed an explanatory research design. Region A subset of 285 private sector suppliers in the tourism industry was chosen using the purposive sampling method. The data analyzed by the Generalized Linear Model indicates that destination attractors have a robust positive effect on destination competitiveness. Additionally, destination management has a considerable and moderate effect, both independently and through its influence on destination attraction. In conclusion, destination competitiveness relies on the presence of destination attractions, and its sustainability is contingent upon effective destination management.
